Volunteers in Mission - About Us
Who Are We?
Volunteers In Mission is one of the Mission Volunteer programs of the General Board of Global Ministry. Our task force is a group of individuals who are volunteering their time to enable the participation of persons from our conference in global missions volunteer programs. Our hope is that affirming, empowering, and trusting relationships will be established primarily with United Methodist churches or Methodist sponsored programs. (2000 Book of Discipline para. 1312.5).
Task Force Chair 2008-2012
Rev. Dana Coker is the current chair. She is the pastor of Bridgeport UMC in Bridgeport, Texas. The chair is nominated by the Nominations Committee of the conference. This is a four year volunteer position and the chair also sits on the Sending Servants Committee.
Task Force Staff Coordinator
Rev. Marji Bishir, Associate Director of Connectional Ministries, also serves as the VIM coordinator for the North Texas Conference. She works in the conference Ministry Center and is the person to contact when you need advice or help with mission activities.
