Job Description

The Keller UMC Building Blocks Director has overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Building Blocks program. The Director ensures that the program is operated in accordance with the Texas State Minimum Standards licensing and the vision of Keller UMC. Must follow operating procedures to provide the best educational, caring, and safe environment for children and families.

The Director maintains highest standards by being visible and involved daily in the operations, education of the center’s classrooms and the staff. Promotes positive interaction with church, parents, and community through participation in community events and regularly inviting parents to participate in worship and other church activities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with Texas State Minimum Standards for child care
  • Plan and implement registration procedures including: distributing, processing, and reviewing enrollment and immunization forms in compliance with Texas State Licensing requirements.
  • Maintain student records of allergies and medical conditions protecting confidential student health information and sharing only with direct care providing staff.
  • Understand and uphold the Keller UMC Safe Sanctuary Child and Youth Protection Policy.
  • Hire and supervise Building Blocks staff including: maintaining employee files, approving timesheets each pay period, completing annual performance evaluations, conducting monthly staff meetings, and coordinating monthly staff training.
  • Plan and implement pre-school and kindergarten academic curriculum.
  • Implement pre-school and kindergarten religious curriculum as provided by the Executive Director of Family Ministries.
  • Plan yearly calendar early in each calendar year for the following academic year, aligning as much as possible with the Keller ISD calendar.
  • Oversee inventory and purchase of consumable supplies ensuring to maintain expenses within or under the budgeted allowable amount. Make recommendations for larger purchases to the Executive Director of Family Ministries.
  • Work with the Director of Communications to recruit and publicize school, especially during registration; update forms and handbooks available on Keller UMC website.
  • Coordinate school interaction with church, parents, and community. Arrange seasonal events and celebrations such as Christmas program, graduation, Sweetheart Dance and holiday parties.

Minimum Qualification

  • Texas State Childcare Director’s Certification Required
  • Minimum of 3 years’ previous experience working at a license child care facility
